An Adult Education/ROP & Community Media of the Foothills Collaboration The Monrovia Community Adult School in conjunction with Community Media of the Foothills/KGEM TV Studio is pleased to announce the expansion of our partnership. The program, offering multiple video, film, and television courses during the Winter/Spring Semester, has been renamed the Monrovia Film and Broadcasting Academy. Our goal is to offer a curriculum that continuously grows to meet the diverse needs of enrolled students. Some classes are offered as single-interest subjects while others are considered core curriculum that will be built upon in the following semester(s) with more advanced courses leading to internal and/or industry-standard certification.
BASIC VIDEO PRODUCTION An introductory class designed for the casual personal use student and/or as a first step in a career pathway. Learn how video can work for you in this course that is tailored to your individual pace and comfort level. Video cameras are provided. Class held @ KGEM Studio, 847 E. Olive Ave, Monrovia
TELEVISION PRODUCTION Gain hands-on experience as you learn to work on a real production team at a T.V. studio! This course will provide the inner working knowledge of the various positions required for production as students create an actual T.V. series to air on KGEM. All equipment provided. Class held @ KGEM Studio, 847 E. Olive Ave. Monrovia.
INTRODUCTION TO EDITING This class is the introductory level for the novice looking to edit home videos, work or corporate videos, or for those exploring a possible career as an editor. This course will provide a working knowledge of video editing and can also be the first in a series that will lead to Apple Final Cut Pro certification. Students will create their own editing reel. BEGINNING COMPUTER GRAPHICS & ANIMATION Learn to use Photoshop, After Effects and other programs to create visually appealing and/or compelling graphics and backgrounds for your video productions. These are great tools whether your business needs a snazzy new graphic or you are interested in exploring a possible career in the entertainment field of computer generated FX. Class held @ the Monrovia High School Tech. Building, Room 722.
ACTING FOR THE CAMERA Whether you want to act, direct, have acting experience, or just have fun learning about the field, this course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the actor/director relationship as well as sharpen your acting and auditioning skills for T.V. and film. This class will provide students with hands-on scene studies and improvisation combined with theory in a safe, fun atmosphere! At completion of class you will have a directed monologue on video.
